Thanksgiving Baskets

The Completed Shop, Donation and/or Delivery Forms will be automatically sent to Holy Spirit Parish.

This ministry brings much needed food to struggling families in our community over the Thanksgiving holiday. This year’s event will take place Saturday, November 19th, 2011. Basket drop off is from 8-10 am. Basket delivery is from 9-11 am.

Our number one need is basket donations. Last year, Holy Spirit donated 685 Thanksgiving food baskets and the number of families in need is expected to be even greater this year. If you would like to donate a Thanksgiving food basket, please sign up by clicking the link above (this is the preferred donation method). Or, there will be sign-up sheets available after masses starting the weekend of Oct. 30th -31st. The recommended shopping list for one complete basket is provided using the link above. If you are unable to donate a completed basket, the parish office will accept monetary donations, and our volunteer shoppers will happily purchase baskets using the donated funds.

Our number two need is volunteers. We especially need “shoppers” (volunteers that shop for completed baskets and are reimbursed with donated funds). We also need volunteers to print maps, to make reminder phone calls to parishioners and our Good Samaritan recipients, and to stuff prayer card envelopes. On the day of the event, we will need numerous drivers to deliver over 600 baskets, and parking lot volunteers to load and unload baskets into cars (from 7-11am -preferably over 12 years old, please, and this is a great way for our teens to earn service hours).

All items need to be placed in a large plastic tub or sturdy box and dropped off in the parking lot between 8:00-10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19th.
Drivers need to come to the social hall between 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. to pick up their maps.
All volunteers, donors and drivers are encouraged to come to the social hall to share in refreshments and fellowship.
