Big Brothers

This program provides the friendship of a male volunteer (under professional staff guidance) to a boy growing up without an adult male in his life.  Both the men and boys benefit from this friendship that often becomes one of life's meaningful experiences.  Men from college age to retirement are welcome.  The Big Brothers organization in central Indiana serves 8 counties and currently has approximately 250 boys WAITING for a male role model to befriend them.

Gift of Time:  Twice a month for a 6-month minimum.  Big Brothers provides many benefits for its big brother/little brother pairs....like free YMCA membership, free tickets to ball games, and periodic group outings...so you are not on your own.

 Training:  There is no formal training...only a screening process.  As noted, each volunteer is supported by a professional counselor to provide as much guidance and support as the volunteer needs to build and maintain the relationship.
