Computer e-Cycling
Recycling May 5, 2013
The Environmental Stewardship Ministry is sponsoring a computer recycling event on Sunday, May 6th. This event will not only reduce polluting our landfills but support schools and teachers in West Africa.
We will need volunteers to help sort the computers as they are collected in the Parish Life Center.
Please let Nathan Rues know if you can help out with any of the May 5th time slots below:
- 8:00 - 9:30
- 9:30 - 11:00
- 11:00 -12:30
- 12:30 - 2:00
- 2:00 - 3:30
- 3:30 - 5:00
- 5:00 - 6:30
Let your friends and family know about this year's computer recycling drive!
We will be collecting computers, monitors, keyboards, computer cables/cords, etc for the following local non-profit groups:
- Wings for West Africa http://www.wafwings.org/ is a local group that test, refurbishes and ships computers to schools in rural West Africa and then trains teachers and provides tech support for the computers.
- WorkForce, Inc, http://www.work-force-inc.com/ is a local organization that uses old non-working computers and electronics to employ, rehabilitate, and train ex-offenders for re-entering the work force.Concerned about personal information that might be on a computer that you want to recycle?
Wings for West Africa uses a software to erase hard drives of donated computers. For peace of mind, you can wipe your hard drive out yourself with the same software available for download at http://www.dban.org/.
